Post Treatment
How does it work
The digestate exiting the anaerobic digestion plant may undergo further aerobic treatment in order to obtain stabilised, mineralised, sanitised and environmentally compatible material.
Depending on the anaerobic digestion technology and the available matrices, the digestate as such, or its palatable fraction downstream of a separator, is mixed with lignocellulosic (structuring) material and finally sent for composting. The liquid fraction, on the other hand, undergoes a treatment aimed at reducing the concentration of ammonia nitrogen, for which Biowaste has developed its own technology.
